ODIS error codes
FAZ9488E is an answer from the Volkswagen Group server during an online session: the authorization data for the vehicle could not be confirmed. Here is what causes it and how we resolve it.
FAZ94xx answers point to damaged or inconsistent vehicle data — typically the instrument cluster or the gateway. The server compares what the car sends with what it has on record and refuses the session when they do not match.
This often appears after a cluster swap, a gateway replacement or interrupted earlier programming.
Confirm the VIN stored in the cluster and gateway matches the vehicle. Check that the battery voltage is stable and the interface connection does not drop during the session.
If the hardware data is inconsistent, the server will keep refusing — the data has to be corrected before the online job can finish.
